Taipei - A Boeing 777-300ER aircraft operated by Taiwanese airline, EVA Air, experienced severe turbulence while flying from Jakarta to Taipei. At least six crew members were injured in this incident. As reported by Taiwan News Formosa TV and Dimsum Daily Hong Kong, Tuesday (13/8/2024), the airline EVA Air has confirmed that the Jakarta-Taipei flight route with flight number BR238 experienced severe turbulence about two hours after takeoff on Sunday (11/ 8) afternoon local time. Turbulence is said to occur when the plane is flying at an altitude of 37,000 feet or around 11,277 meters.
It was reported that the turbulence occurred when food service was provided by the crew to passengers about two hours after the plane took off. As a result, chaos occurred in the cabin with plates, paper cups and food scattered around, and water splashes could even be seen on the cabin baggage cover. No passengers were injured in this incident, but six flight attendants who were serving food were said to have suffered minor injuries.
One of the passengers said he was saved from hitting the cabin ceiling thanks to another passenger who held his arm. Several other passengers were reportedly wet due to splashes from drinks that spilled during the turbulence.
